White our team at BPS have the experience and knowledge of creating professional grade training simulators we wanted to ensure we collaborated with the best in the business when it came to mimicking the movement and cues required to become the best Sim in the world in providing a fully immersive and realistic Single Seater.

THE SOLUTION

Moog is the world leader in the design and development of 6-Degree of Freedom (DOF) motion platforms and was chosen by BPS for this project because of its proven track record in providing globally recognised motorsport brands with Level-D specification simulators.

The resulting simulation unit developed by BPS incorporates a 12-inch Moog motion base, along with six-metre floor-to-ceiling wrap-around screens. Delivering six degrees of freedom, the Moog base (MB-E-DOF/12/1000KG) enables drivers to feel and respond to every movement, giving them an unparalleled replication of driving conditions across a huge range of car types and track configurations.

Technology and data enabled BPS to replicate a highly realistic on-screen racing experience, allowing drivers to race on world-class Formula 1 circuits as well as historic venues such Goodwood. However, without the addition of Moog’s motion base, the simulator would not be able to mimic every movement, jolt and degree of turn, enabling drivers to derive the high level of replication and race-ready data they need to perform.

THE RESULT

The simulator has run constantly at over 130 hours per month since installation and is used by drivers from every class of motorsport, including established F1 teams, up-and-coming Formula Renault drivers, and keen semi-professionals within the ultra-competitive historic scene.

The combination of the simulator technology and the Moog motion base enables drivers to replicate their individual race setup, mimicking key aspects such as car control and handling, gear ratios and change options, to deliver the most realistic driving simulator experience ever created.
