Base Performance was founded in 2009 by British racing driver Darren Turner. His experience spans over twenty years in a number of different high profile motorsport genres including Formula One, Touring cars and Sports cars. Winning the coveted McLaren/Autosport/BRDC young driver of the year award in 1996 Darren has gone on to establish himself as a very successful and respected driver with the accolades to prove it.
Over the past ten years Darren has been a simulator development driver for a number of leading Formula One teams as well as an official works team driver for Aston Martin Racing. Playing a pivotal role within the team since the programmes conception in 2005, Darren has been central to the advancement of their GT and prototype race cars winning the prestigious GT1 class at Le Mans in 2007 and 2008 respectively.
Currently racing in the European Le Mans Series and the Le Mans 24 Hours for Aston Martin Racing, and in a Nissan GT-R in selected rounds of the FIA GT championship, Darren continues to strive for his next accomplishment.
